January wine chart

Sagrantino, Montepulciano, Sangiovese or Cabernet: Enoteca Properzio has made its selection of January top wines by picking from the most famous and appreciated vine varieties.

An evergreen and uncontested classic of the wine industry occupies, without doubt, the top position: the Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 Anni Caprai. This important Umbrian collection wine is characterised by an intense and fruity scent, while its taste is particularly velvety and strong, just like its spiced final taste.

Among the best wines there is, of course, also the Kurni Oasi degli Angeli, a 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine. Besides releasing smells of banana and vanilla, this masterpiece of the Marches has no less than scents of tobacco and oriental spices, together with scents of undergrowth. Even the tannins – which are as defined as delicate – are an unquestioned strong point of this wine that you cannot miss for any reason.

At the top, an award-winning 100% Nebbiolo wine which is demanded for all over the world stands out: the Barolo Monprivato Giuseppe Mascarello e figlio. Thanks to floral and spiced notes, every sip of this delicious bottle gives you utterly unique and original emotions. Perhaps it is because of the balanced union between bitter and sweet tastes, or maybe it is for the pleasantly persistent final taste, but this red wine from Piedmont is surely something special.

What kind of new year of excellence would it be without a wine from Tuscany? Here it is, then, the Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido of 2017 among our January top wines. Not only is the year a winning one, but the whole bottle is a harmonious union of tastes and scents to be enjoyed with intensity. From the ripe red fruit to the toasted almonds, with a touch of aromatic herbs, every component gives balance and, at the same time, enhances the other components, giving birth to an unparalleled piece of art.

Another part of Italy on the list is Emilia-Romagna, with one of the most interesting wines of the region: the Nadel Poderi Morini, which boasts remarkable character and persistence. Its tannins are equally notable and truly elegant.
